Transylvania and the Danube Delta

A trip which shows you the main cultural objectives, but also the natural beauties of Romania. This trip takes you through Transylvania, but also through Walachia in the Danube Delta - "The Landscape of the 2007 - 2009".

The trip is a coach-tour, addressed to large groups, around 20 persons. The free date choosing allows you to decide very quickly and also shows the flexibility of our services.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Bucharest (30 km)
Meeting with the guide at the airport in Bucharest and transfer to the hotel in the city. Dinner and program planning with the guide.
 
Day 2: Bucuresti - Curtea de Arges - Sibiu (290 km)
After a short city tour in the Bucharest' old quarter we head north to Curtea de Arges where we will visit the imposing Orthodox Monastery Church - the royal cemetery. Here we will discover an architectural mix between Orthodoxism and Islamic influences. Following the Olt river in his cutting of the Carpathians we arrive in Sibiu. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sibiu.

Day 3: The European Cultural Capital 2007 and surroundings (50 km)
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will take a city tour in Sibiu where we will visit the Evangelic Church, the Liars Bridge and many others cultural objectives. In the afternoon we drive to the nearby small city Cisnadie, where we will visit the extraordinary fortified church. Next we head to Cisnadioara to see the refuge citadel with the roman basilica. After that we will arrive in the Sheppard village Rasinari. Here we will visit the village and the old church. Dinner and return to Sibiu.
 
Day 4: Sibiu - Valea Viilor - Medias - Biertan - Sighisoara (130 km)
After breakfast we drive to Valea Viilor to visit the 705 year old, very well fortified church, in the middle of the wine yard. This is an UNESCO - world cultural heritage. Next we drive to Medias where we will visit the St Margaret Church, and the old city walls and fortifications. For lunch we drive to Biertan (which is also part of the UNESCO - world cultural heritage) where we will visit the fortified church with its famous conjugal prison. In the afternoon we arrive in Sighisoara (which is also part of the UNESCO - world cultural heritage). In a city tour of the so called Transylvanian „Rotenburg ob der Taube" we will visit the clock tower, the hill church and many other touristic features. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sighisoara.
 
Day 5: Sighisoara - Viscri - Homorod - Prejmer - Brasov (150 km)
First we will visit the small village of Viscri and learn more about the restoration project conducted by the „Mihai Eminescu Trust". It was an abandoned village which now comes back to life. Next we head to Homorod where Mr. Tome will present us the fortified church there. In Prejmer we will visit the best preserved fortified church in Transylvania with its famous "Death Organ" on the battlement parapet. Late in the afternoon we arrive in Brasov, where we will take a short walk. Dinner with Transylvanian-Saxon specialties in Brasov.
 
Day 6: Brasov - Ploiesti - Tulcea (425 km)
After breakfast we will visit the Black Church. Afterwards we drive towards Ploiesti passing through Predeal. In the Urlati village we will have a wine tasting with Transylvania's fine wines. Passing through the Baragan Plain we drive to Tulcea. Late arrival in Tulcea.
 
Day 7: Boat trip in the Danube Delta
Breakfast. Afterwards we will start our day trip in the Danube Delta where we will see the biggest reed landscape in Europe.and we get the chance to enjoy this UNESCO world natural heritage. Lunch with fish specialties on board. Late in the afternoon we return to Tulcea.
 
Day 8: Boat trip in the Danube Delta
Today we will discover the small canals, but also this places' culture. We visit the oldest Orthodox Church in Romania in Saun and Cocosul. Dinner at the monastery. Return to Tulcea.
 
Day 9: Tulcea - Bucharest (290 km)
Early in the morning we drive to Bucuresti where we will visit the Athenaeum, the Arch of Triumph, Victoriei Boulevard, the Cotroceni Palace, the Revolution Square and the second largest building in the world. Free afternoon in Bucharest- the "Little Paris" of the Eastern. Dinner with Walachian specialties.
 
Day 10: Departure from Bucharest (15 km)
Transfer to the airport in Bucharest. Here you say goodbye to the guide.
